We have 5 weeks of training left to go, 4 weeks of which we will continue to work on stroke count and reducing average times. On the Last night (Dec 19th) we will have a Time Trial(TT) to gauge how much your aerobic fitness has improved over the course of the 15 weeks. I have updated the <a href="http://spreadsheets.google.com/ccc?key=pKQB_X-a3qgDU5v7H5X4MJA&amp;hl=en">Swimmer info</a> table with your 100m and 200m average times. In this weeks main aerobic set we'll look to get 400m average times. After that we'll have a complete group of averages for the distances. Throughout the rest of the season we'll work on reducing the averages for all the distances 100m, 200m and 400m. In the coming weeks we are going to be doing more stroke count work. Here are some ways to work on reducing your stroke counts. 1. Work off the Walls - Push offs, Turns , Dives, use the fly kick. 2. Stretch the Stroke out as far as possible. 3. Switch the power on rigth the way through the stroke (No Slippage) 4. Slippage in the stroke inevitably occurs as the distance increases. Also folks try to make a point of being on time for the sessions. If your arriving late for the warmups your losing 10 -15% on the mileage total for the session. All this mileage adds up significantly over the course of the season. Remember reducing the number of strokes you do / length is not all down to just technique. Its also down to the mileage you get under your belt. Build up your strength and stamina by getting the mileage in.
